auto warranty

It's no surprise that many telemarketers are increasing their calls and various forms of communication in order to try to step up their selling quotas.

It's a dwindling economy and consumers are very wary of what they purchase, if anything. There are many of us who are concerned about the 'worse case scenario' event and it is these people that telemarketers focus on.

Take for example an insurance company based in the United States that has commenced an aggressive marketing campaign in Canada, primarily in Ontario, to convince consumers to purchase an extended warranty for their vehicles.

They are very aggressive in that they take no for an answer, hound you on the phone with repeated phone calls and send multiple letters to your home with a dramatic and almost frantic letter indicating that you cannot afford NOT to purchase their extended car warranty because what will YOU DO if your vehicle breaks down this winter and your warranty has expired?

Analysts say that it is these scare tactics that already nervous consumers begin to think is a good idea and that the telemarketer may have a point but beware, it is not as good as you think it is. A nervous and fear ridden consumer is exactly what a telemarketer is hoping for.

Although the insurance company based in the US is not doing anything illegal per se, however many car manufacturers in Canada stipulate that an outside warranty will not cover authentic parts and the extended warranty policy from a third party will probably try to convince you to replace them with refurbished or a knock off parts.

The insurance company has received multiple complaints and have re-distributed their initial 80,000 letters gone out to the public and have 'toned down' their letter as their solicitor indicated in an interview with a Canadian news reporter.

Professionals in the auto industry suggest that you contact your vehicle manufacturer directly if you are concerned and wish to purchase an extended warranty for your vehicle. That will it will ensure that the coverage with replace authentic parts on your vehicle and tends to be a more all encompassing warranty in general.

This is unfortunately one of the many ways that consumers need to be made aware of and be wary of any outside third party insurance schemes that will fool you into believing that you have sufficient and reliable coverage.

It is times like these that consumers need to pay extra special attention to the small print to anything that they are contemplating of signing. Review your options, never ever make a split decision and certainly never agree to anything over the phone.

If you are interested in something, suggest to the telemarketer that the email or mail you the information for you to review and YOU will get back to them. If they are not agreeable to doing that, then you know if was not a good product to begin with.
